Former Pottery Plant Could Get New Life

Macomb, IL – A Minnesota-based company is trying to determine whether there is support in Macomb for creating a multi-purpose arts facility in an abandoned factory. ArtSpace is looking at the old Haeger Pottery plant on West Calhoun Street. The idea is to convert it into studios, apartments, and a retail outlet for local artists. ArtSpace's representatives met with community members during a two-day period to share ideas and gather input. The project is still in the feasibility stage. ArtSpace will decide by mid-November whether to buy the building. If it does, the project would take three to five years to complete.
