Macomb, IL – The Franklin Street bridge in Macomb still has not been repaired nearly six months after it was damaged, and aldermen are now hearing a complaint about it. Martha Moon King says barricades on Franklin at Randolph Street prevented street cleaners and garbage trucks from venturing down that quarter block stretch this summer. She says that's caused hardship for her 93-year old father, who lives there, and she's concerned snow plows will not be able to clean that stretch this winter. Aldermen said they were unaware of the disruption in city services. Alderman at-large Chris Senn suggested the barricades be moved closer to the bridge so services could resume. The bridge was damaged when a car ran into it. An IDOT crew then inspected the bridge and determined it was not safe and needs to be repaired. City Administrator Mike Hays says repairs could cost anywhere between $10,000 and $150,000.
