Fort Madison, IA – A major industry in Southeast Iowa is expanding. The Scotts Company is adding a 52,000 square foot building to its Ft. Madison facility. Plant Manager, Dave Sanborn, says the $5,000,000 expansion will house one new packaging line and one revamped packaging line for its liquid lawn care products. Sanborn says 20 new employees were recently added at the Ft. Madison facility. He says the additional packaging lines will also allow the company to get away from having employees work 12 hour shifts. Sanborn says the expansion should be finished within the next six months. The plant employs roughly 200 full-tim workers, as well as seasonal and temporary help.
