Macomb, IL – About a half dozen students with the WIU Campus Greens demonstrated in front of the west side McDonald's on Friday afternoon. They're upset with what they consider to be unfair labor practices for tomato growers in Florida. The demonstration was part of a national protest. Those picketing the restaurant held signs reading "No More McSlavery" and "How Does Your Slaveburger Taste?" One of the demonstrators - Robert Casey - says more protests are planned in Macomb for the weekend. Taco Bell was the focus of a similar protest and boycott a few years ago. The fast food chain now gives its tomato growers fair wages.
