Macomb, IL – The McDonough County Board has cut by about half its $1 million interfund borrowing. The County's auditor, John Lehman, says money from the public safety sales tax fund has been shifted to the general fund. He says this has freed up money to repay loans from other funds. Lehman says as the board continues to re-pay funds, it will have more money left at the end of the fiscal year to pay expenses. He says the county had two weeks' operating cash at the last fiscal year. He says the new budget will increase that to about one month.
