Keokuk, IA – Lee County could make some changes to its economic development efforts before the end of the year. In less than 5 weeks, Economic Development Director Lowell Junkins will step down after near 4 years on the job. During these final days of 2006, the Board of Supervisors must determine the direction, focus, and make-up of the Lee County Economic Development Group. Chairman George Morgan says one idea being talked about is to involve more groups in the county's efforts by creating a public-private partnership. The county budgets hundreds of thousands of dollars, each year, for its economic development group. With that in mind, Morgan says the board also wants to be better informed as to the work conducted by the organization. In fact, several supervisors says they have been "out of the loop" and want to see more reporting and auditing taking place.
