Muskie Stocked in Schuy-Rush Lake

Rushville, IL – Predator fish being stocked in Rushville's Schuy-Rush Lake will offer a new challenge for fishermen and yield information for the Department of Natural Resources. About 185 Illinois muskie -- from 30 to 40 inches long -- were stocked last month. Next spring 365 Minnesota Muskie are scheduled to be brought in. Matt McAnally was one of the fishermen who helped push the project through the park board and the city council. He says the predators will help thin the excessive number of very small panfish that occupy the lake. In addition, it will give the DNR an idea of what type of fish might best be successfully stocked in other central Illinois waters.
