Colchester, IL – The West Prairie School District will hold a Truth in Taxation hearing later this month to discuss its request for a tax levy about 11 percent more than last year. Superintendent Jonathan Heerboth says the district is facing an assessed valuation that could fall by more than two percent. In addition, he says the coming year's budget will not have the $350,000 in reorganization funding that it has enjoyed for the past four years. The board is asking for almost $3.47 million for the school year that begins next July.
