Macomb, IL – Macomb aldermen have okayed engineering planning for a major upgrade to Ward Street. Mayor Mick Wisslead says the street will be a three-lane concrete pavement with a sidewalk along one side. He says the planning will take about one year, with an 80-percent federal match expected. He says construction could begin in about one year if federal authorities approve the project. The plans will cost about $70,000. The construction could cost up to $1.5 million, depending on how many blocks are paved.
