Macomb, IL – A McDonough County Committee is recommending that one resident get a rebate on her owner/occupied property tax exemption. Carol Lawson told the Law and Legal Committee she had been denied the exemption, even though she had filed the necessary paperwork. Committee chairman John Lawson says the assessor had remembered Lawson being in the office, and that she had a record of her attempts to file. He says the papers must have been mislaid. The committee recommendation will go to the full county board next week.
