Keokuk, IA – Keokuk's Lincoln Elementary will close its doors at the end of the school year. The school board voted unanimously to shut down the school on S. 7th Street once classes are over. The building was built more than 70 years ago. It houses roughly 40 students. Superintendent Jane Babcock says only a few students live near the school and the rest are transported in. Babcock says the future home for the students and the faculty at Lincoln will be determined in the future. School Board President, Jim Vandenberg, says the district still has the option to re-open the school if Keokuk sees a spike in enrollment.
