Keokuk, IA – While repairs to the South Lee County Courthouse are needed, it remains unclear if they will occur in the near future. The Board of Supervisors spent an hour touring the four levels of the roughly 115-year-old facility. What the panel found were several areas with peeling paint and wallpaper, some holes in the walls, and an overall lack of office and storage space. Chairman Larry Kruse says there are a number of repairs that must take place soon. Kruse says future courthouse security requirements and the possiblity of county office consolidation also factor into the decision to make repairs to the building.
