Beardstown, IL – Flood plain maps in the Beardstown area are being updated by FEMA. Cass County Engineer Tim Icenogle says some people have paid for surveys to show their property is not in a flood plain. He says residents should register those findings with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, which is helping FEMA with the project. Icenogle says unless the letters are registered, the residents might have to pay to an engineer to have the property exempted again.
