Fort Madison, IA – A member of the Lee County Board of Supervisors wants Keokuk to ask its residents if they want property tax relief. Keokuk will soon be able to use the property tax dollars generated by the Keokuk Floodwall property. The city council has discussed several areas where it could use the money as it crafts the city's upcoming spending plan. County Board Vice-Chairman, Bob Woodruff, says the residents of Keokuk should have a chance to weigh in on how the money is used, through a special election. Roughly 1 year ago, the Keokuk City Council formally called on the county board to only move forward on county office reorganization if approved by voters.
Supervisor Says Tax Relief Needed
