Back to the Drawing Board for Abandoned Factory

Macomb, IL – Macomb is still looking for a use for the former Haeger Pottery plant now that an idea talked about last fall has apparently failed to materialize. Mayor Mick Wisslead says new Community Development Coordinator Ed Basch and others from the city will meet soon with representatives from Haeger, which still owns the site. He says they'll talk about different possibilities for the abandoned factory, such as converting it into apartments or tearing it down and building something new on the land. A group called ArtSpace considered converting the building into apartments and studios for artists, but it now appears that will not happen. Wisslead believes ArtSpace and Haeger were unable to agree on a price for the building.
