Keokuk, IA – Some Lee County residents are still feeling the impact of this weekend's severe winter weather. Emergency Management Coordinator Steve Cirinna says roughly 20% of the homes in Lee County are still without power. He says rural sections of Northern Lee County were hit the hardest by the storm. Cirinna says a shelter for those trying to get out of the cold is still open at the Iowan Motor Lodge in Fort Madison. Cirinna says it could be as long as one week before the power is fully restored in Lee County, so a long term shelter could be opened. He says freezing water pipes and fires from certain heaters or candles are concerns during a power outage in the winter.
