Park District to Start Hiking, Biking Trail

Lewistown, IL – The Lewistown Township Park District will begin construction of its first hiking and bike path this spring. Board President Ted Myetich says a reimbursement grant from the Department of Natural Resources is expected to pay about half of the $160,000 cost. The 4,000 foot asphalt path will be from the entrance to near the lake in Ratcliff Park on Lewistown's west side. Myetich says the next step will be to extend the path through the park's wooded area. The district's eventual goal is to link Ratcliff Park paths with other parts of town, including the business district, the high school and other parks.
