Fort Madison, IA – Fort Madison's new public library should still open before the end of the year, despite some delays. Library Board President, Elaine Eschman, says construction is scheduled to be completed by October 21. She says it would be a few more weeks, after that date, before patrons would be able to use the facility on Avenue E. Eschman says the opening date has been impacted by several construction change orders and a delay in receiving materials. She says the contractors are currently working on the 16,500 square foot facility's roof. Eschman says the $3,000,000 project remains on budget.
