Macomb, IL – An Illinois Education Association leader believes this is the year something might be done to change the way the state funds its public schools. Vice President Bob Blade says the key will be getting the public to pressure their legislators. He says then the legislators will put pressure on their leaders to reach a funding compromise. He says new taxes, including a possible emissions tax or taxing some services could provide new funding. Blade says the goal is to reduce the inequity between rich and poor school districts.
