Macomb, IL – Water and sewer rates could soon rise in Macomb. Aldermen on Monday night agreed to consider a 7% hike in each of the rates. They'll vote on the changes next week. The money is needed for major improvement projects. City Administrator Mike Hays says Macomb has numerous needs but four projects top the list:
Improvements to the water treatment plant for an estimated $400,000.
A water main, sewer and surface reconstruction project on West Adams Street for an estimated $750,000.
A water and sewer main extension along East Jackson Street for an estimated $430,000.
A sewer extension on East Grant Street for an estimated $35,000.
