Keokuk, IA – One of the teens charged in connection with a shooting plot at Central Lee High School may not face any more jail time. Dalton Bird, 18, of Franklin has pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit an aggravated misdemeanor. Lee County Attorney Mike Short says the terms of the deal require Bird to complete the youthful offender program. He entered the high intensity supervision program several weeks ago. Law enforcement authorities say Bird, Stephen Copeland, 16 of Donnellson, and Jacob Schulte, 15, of Koekuk targeted several people at the school. Short says that if Bird does not comply with the program, he could face jail time.
Meanwhile, the charge against Schulte has been dismissed as he was found to be a child in need of assistance and is currently receiving treatment.
