Supervisor's Daughter Now County Weed Commissioner

Fort Madison, IA – The Lee County Board of Supervisors has hired a close relative of one of its members as county weed commissioner. Alicia Schiller's duties will include identifying, controlling, and elminating noxious weeds. She has a degree in botany from Iowa State University and is currently a biology teacher at Central Lee High School. Alicia is also the daughter of District 3 supervisor Ernie Schiller. Chairman Larry Kruse says the county received just 2 applications and Alicia had the best qualifications. He says Alicia will report to the five member board, not just her father. Alicia Schiller's contract will expire in November, but can be renewed annually. She will receive $1,000 and will have an additional budget of $500.
