Macomb, IL – The McDonough County Board's Finance Committee wants to increase the funding for its Veterans Assistance Commission. Chairwoman Alice Henry says the board now levies only about one-third of the maximum levy, but needs have increased. She says the budget for this year is tight, and more veterans seem to be asking for help. She says her committee will recommend to the board a five-thousand dollar levy increase, to $40,000. The proposal will be brought up during budget discussions late this summer.
