Quincy, IL – A nutrition program for West-Central Illinois seniors will have to close three of its Hancock County locations. On April 1, Meals Plus for Seniors will shut down its sites in LaHarpe, Dallas City, and Warsaw. Within the next month, a total of 10 sites throughout the region will stop serving meals. The West Central Area Agency on Aging oversees the program. Director Lynn Niehowner says state and federal funding has not kept up with the costs of operations. Niehowner says the six counties served by Meals Plus for Seniors will have at least one location open, including Hamilton and Carthage. She says frozen meals will be made available so that no senior will go without food.
