Macomb, IL – A 50-thousand dollar grant from State Farm will set up two labs for WIU's new major in telecommunications management. Computer Science department chairwoman Kathy Neumann says the first students began work in January, so the grant is especially timely. One lab will be standard computer equipment, where students will learn everything from networking to security. The other will be a wireless lab, which will take advantage of the growth and popularity of wireless networking. State Farm Assistant Vice President Bill Miller says his firm will use graduates of the program to help keep 17,000 agents connected with each other and with the home office.
