Canton, IL – Spoon River College is curtailing some of its technology and career programs. The board will eliminate the electronics technology program in the fall of 2008. The Administrative Office Technology program will become a certificate program and might eventually be eliminated. The Automotive Technology program will continue for two years with an annual review. The Ag Business Management, Diesel Technology and Nursing programs will continue as degree programs. Spokeswoman Anna Buehrer says the changes were made based on enrollment, job success of the graduates and the perceived needs of employers. Students now in the programs will be allowed to complete them. The changes will mean the loss of one or two full-time instructors.
