Keokuk, IA – The Lee County Economic Development Group could receive more than $750-thousand dollars to continue its work for three more years. LCEDG's new deal with the county guarantees the group $300,000 in the upcoming budget. It also says the county intendes to give $270,000 in year 2 and $240,000 in year 3, but does not require it. Chairman Larry Kruse says this shows the county's commitment to economic development, which can be tricky. The supervisors will retain a liaison to the LCEDG board of directors, will have veto power over new members, and will have access to certain financial records.
