Macomb, IL – LaHarpe will have some of its homes upgraded with a $360,000 grant from the Illinois Housing Development Authority. Kevin Wiehardt of the Western Illinois Regional Council says the money should bring 10 or 11 homes up to code with good wiring and plumbing and heating systems. He says the homes will also be checked for possible lead paint, which will be covered to keep the homes safe. He says the LaHarpe city council asked about the possibility of the grant after seeing rehabilitation that had been done in Carthage. He says the work should begin in mid-May, and be completed in about one year.
