Macomb, IL – McDonough County's Dispatch Center wants to add some full-time staffers to ease the overload on its part-time workers. Director Noel Oliver says he has seven full-timers of the nine authorized, and would like to add a tenth. He says that's the minimum number needed to have two people on duty at all times. The center is also using four part-time dispatchers, but they are not always available when needed. Oliver says increasing the number of full-timers would cut the amount of overtime needed to keep the center in full operation . He is training some candidates, but says not all continue with the work after they are considered competent. He says training can run for between five and 16 weeks, depending on the candidate.
