Nauvoo, IL – Residents of the Nauvoo-Colusa School District must decide on April 17 whether their school should remain independent. Roughly 80 students will leave the district this summer because Dallas City is converging with Carthage and LaHarpe. School Board President Terry Knoke says that will result in a $400,000 shortfall for Nauvoo. As a result, staff cuts have been made. Knoke says a citizen's group has also recommended the district hike the tax rate so Nauvoo-Colusa can stay independent. He says the district will have to look at school reorgnaization and building usage whether the increase passes or not.
