Canton, MO – More than 400 community, political, and business leaders met with Northeast Missouri, today, to continue work on a number of regional improvements. Following the Flood of 1993, leaders from West Central Illinois, Southeast Iowa, and Northeast Missouri started making a concerted effort to work together. The result has been the Tri-State Development Summit. After 10 years and 7 events, progress can be seen in highway construction, tourism, and economic development. Quincy businessman, Tom Oakley, says the counties involved in the summit have come a long way. 8 standing committees work on various issues, such as housing, media, and agriculture. Two more were added during this 7th summit, connectivity and emergency response.
