Rushville, IL – As part of the preparation for next year's budget, Rushville aldermen approved allotting $40,000 for repaving brick streets around the square from motor fuel tax funds. Mayor Ron Shepherd says the move will not guarantee that the money will go for the purpose. He says the budget plan allows the money to be used for more immediate projects if necessary. Otherwise, he says the money will be placed into a fund to provide local match money for an $800,000 federal grant the city has received for the work. In addition, he says the work could be delayed by the need to replace some of the utility lines under the streets. Shepherd says the brick project will be extended over several years to allow the reserve to build up enough to begin the project.
