Hare Making the Rounds

Macomb, IL – Congressman Phil Hare (D-IL) is touring the district this week to talk about his first 100 days in office. That tour brought him to Macomb, where he talked about education issues during a stop at WIU. Hare said he will introduce a measure that will entice teachers, physicians, and nurses to work in rural areas by forgiving their student loans. Hare also said Congress passed a bill to cut the student loan interest rate in half. On another issue, Hare said the current Congress is on the right track in dealing with Iraq and added more money is coming for veterans' benefits. The freshman lawmaker said the job is keeping him busy. Hare said he's been back in the district just about every weekend since taking office.
