Keokuk, IA – The Keokuk City Council is once again full as a vacancy has been filled. The council voted, last night, to appoint Scott Nichols to the post of 2nd Ward Alderman. He replaces Marian Ealey, who stepped down last month after moving out of the city's southwest side. Nichols, who works at Roquette America, says he wants to give back to the community that has given him a good life for 47 years. He says he will walk into the job with no set agendas. Nichols was chosen from a field of 3 candidates. He says he will run, this fall, to keep the seat he was just appointed to. Now that the appointment has been made, 2nd ward residents have the option to file a petition calling for a special election.
