Food Pantry to Move

Carthage, IL – Hancock County's food pantry is moving from the Health Department, where it has been for years, to the Trinity Lutheran Church. Coordinator Marcia McGaughey says the health department needed the space because of its new dental clinic. The new location will offer more space for freezers and food storage. McGaughey says the newly re-named Shepherd's Pantry will be open for two hours a day, two days a week beginning early next month. She says the Ministerial Alliance and individual churches will solicit donations. Food also comes from the Riverbend Food Bank in the Quad Cities, and from a local locker plant which provides venison donated by hunters.
