Recycling Center Re-opens

Macomb, IL – It took longer than expected, but Bridgeway's recycling center in Macomb is finally back in business. The facility was destroyed by a fire of unknown origin last summer. Now it's been rebuilt and Tom Pospeschil of Bridgeway Training Services says the center is bigger and better than ever. Pospeschil says the delay in re-opening the center was caused by the insurance process and the length of time it took to acquire new machinery. Pospeschil says the center accepts materials from communities that have contracts with Waste Management. Before the fire, the center handled around 300,000 pounds of recyclable materials every month.

More information:

*Around 50-55 people work at Bridgeway's recycling center.

*The new facility has an extra bin, which should allow recycling to be done a bit more efficiently.

*The new building has an overhead sprinkler system, which the old building did not have.
