Burlington, IA – Security at Burlington's Oak Street Middle School will be much tighter after a written threat was discovered.
Since the individual who wrote the message has not been located, Superintendent Mike Book says the district is taking every necessary precaution for Thursday.
He says the school will be on lockdown, there will be a greater police and faculty presence, students can stay home without academic penalties, and book-bags will not be allowed until Monday.
Book says these steps only apply to Oak Street Middle School because the threat mentioned a time and a date.
He says the district called and sent notes home to parents to make sure they knew what was going on.
