Donnellson, IA – Efforts are underway to make another Lee County school district tobacco-free.
The Keokuk and Fort Madison school districts have tobacco-free campuses, which means tobacco cannot be used anywhere on school grounds.
The Central Lee School District is tobacco-free in school buildings, but not campus-wide.
Lee County's tobacco prevention coordinator, Emily Carrick, says a recent survey shows that students and faculty at Central Lee are ready to take that next step.
Carrick says that information will soon be presented to the Central Lee School Board.
Superintendent John Henriksen says the school board could have the chance to vote on a campus-wide tobacco-free policy before the next school year begins.
