Havana to Seek Enterprise Zone

Havana, IL – Havana Economic Development Coordinator Terry Svob is preparing an application for the city to join the Western Illinois Economic Development Authority enterprise zone. Currently, the zone is only in Pike County. Havana could be linked to that by a three-foot wide corridor. Svob says the enterprise zone would allow him to offer more benefits than the city's TIF district currently allows. He has also invited other cities in Mason County to join, and says they are reviewing their qualifications. The county board is scheduled to vote on a resolution of support at this month's meeting.
