Fort Madison, IA – Lee County's Drop-In Center will remain open for another year.
The Board of Supervisors agreed to a new 1-year contract with Burlington-based Hope Haven Area Development Center to operate the center.
CPC Administrator, Ryanne Wood, says the Fort Madison facility, which is utilized by residents with mental health and other developmental disabilities, has exceeded all expectations.
Wood says the county has already looked at several larger properties to accommodate the increasing use of the Drop-In Center.
She says transportation will also expand from 3 to 5 days a week in July.
Wood says 90 different people have used the Drop-In Center during the first year, with the house being filled on most nights.
Meanwhile, the Lee County Board of Supervisors has agreed to a new 3-year contract with Ottumwa-based 10-15 Transit.
The company will provide transportation for residents with mental health and other developmental disabilities.
Wood says 10-15's bid of 40 cents/mile works out to about $60,000/year while the hourly bid of Burlington-based SEIBUS came in at around $160,000 for 12 months.
The board and 10-15 also agreed to a new 1-year deal to continue providing transportation to the county's Drop-In Center.
