Goal: Depot Renovation

Bushnell, IL – Bushnell city council members plan to find help in renovating the town's old freight depot.

Mayor Steve Russell says even if it does not prove to be the oldest in the state, it dates from around 1856 and is worth preserving.
Russell has received an offer of help from the Bushnell Community Improvement Association, which will seek grants that would help pay the cost of repair and restoration.

He will contact the historical society as well. He also plans to see if state legislators have ideas on possible grant sources.

The depot has been moved from its original location to a site near the tracks. It needs a foundation and repairs to preserve it.
