Keokuk, IA – The President of the Keokuk School Board wants to make the public more aware of what the district is working on.
The crowds at most Keokuk school board meetings are small, administrators, teachers, news reporters, and the occasional parent or citizen.
The last two meetings, though, have filled the High School's media center as the board discussed staff cuts.
President Jim Vandenbergsays the response has shown him the public is interested in what the board is doing and that the board must make sure the community know everything that is going on at its meetings.
Vandenberg says he would like to see one of the board's two monthly meetings turned into an informal workshop where issues could be discussed in much greater detail.
