Traffic Signal Study Discussions On Hold

Keokuk, IA – It looks like a proposed traffic signal study in Keokuk could be off the table.

Turning off several Main Street traffic signals between 2nd & 14th streets was once again on the agenda for yesterday's workshop.

Following a 20-minute discussion, the 6 council members in attendance agreed that it may be time to hold off on conducting a one-month study.

Finance Committee Chair, Doug Matlick, says the council has not reached a consensus on what to do.

Matlick says his biggest concern is how to cover the cost of replacing the older signals.

He does not believe a plan to shut down 4 signals, which was discussed last week, will be brought for a vote next week, or any time in the near future.
