Committee Surveys Manager Duties

Macomb, IL – A McDonough County ad hoc committee is surveying board members to determine what they think a county manager should be responsible for.

Linda Jani says she's been hearing for five years that the county needs an administrator who could streamline operations and keep the county from making expensive mistakes.

Jani says the survey will focus on duties and not on the qualities of the person who might take the job.

She says coming up with the job description will open further discussion on whether the position should be established. Her committee is a sub-group of the Human Relations and Planning Committee.

Problems cited by some board members have included:

* Problems with assessment.

* Problems with the overlapping enterprise zones and TIF districts.

* Personnel issues.

* Getting different elements of county government to work more closely together.
