Keokuk, IA – Some building owners in Keokuk are looking to develop a historic district.
The proposed district would include downtown buildings located along or near Blondeau Street.
Kevin Kuckelman owns several buildings that could be included in the historic zone.
He says the project is in the early stages, so funding and volunteers are needed.
Kuckelman says the designation would help property owners qualify for money to rehab their buildings, improve tourism and marketing opportunities through the connection to the city's cultural and entertainment district, and remind people of Keokuk's history.
He says the city's application could be completed this fall.
