Nauvoo, IL – Nauvoo is revising its ordinances to include provisions for wind turbines.
Mayor John McCarty says a homeowner asked about installing one, but city codes did not cover them.
McCarty says aldermen have made the wind generators a permitted use in some zoning districts.
However, he says there were no provision covering the engineering of such an installation. McCarty says the city engineer is studying common industry specifications to come up with requirements that could be included in Nauvoo's codes.
McCarty says those are expected to come before the council soon. That would clear the way for construction of the town's first privae wind turbine.
