Children Died From Smoke Inhalation

Keokuk, IA – The smoke from a house fire in Keokuk, Tuesday morning, is what appears to have killed two young siblings.

Lee County Medical Examiner, Dr. Eugenio Torres says 4-year-old Dylan White and 2-year-old Elizabeth White each died from smoke inhalation.

They were found after firefighters responded to a fire at the house on the northwest corner of 13th and Fulton.

Their parents, 34-year-old Matthew White and 25-year-old Joyce Boley were transported to University of Iowa Hospital with extensive burns.

The hospital would not release their conditions or verify if they were still being treated there.

A third child, whose identity has not been released, was uninjured.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

A make-shift memorial has been set-up at the home.
