Macomb, IL – A member of the Macomb pool committee said this week that all options remain on the table. Chuck Wrenn said those options include construction of a standard pool, an aquatic center, or a water park. He also said all funding options remain on the table.
Wrenn provided an update to Macomb Park Commissioners during their monthly meeting. The park district operates Glenwood Pool, which is owned by the city.
Wrenn told commissioners the pool committee will next discuss possible locations for the new pool. Wrenn said the committee also wants to visit 15 or 20 towns that have built pools in the last five years to learn from their experiences.
The pool committee has been working on the project for more than a year. Wrenn said a new facility will be at least a 40-year investment so it's important to be thorough. He hopes a final report can be ready as soon as the end of July.

*Wrenn said the committee could use a few more members. In particular, he would like to add a few members who use the pool on a regular basis.
*No one is certain of Glenwood Pool's age. It could date back to the World War II era or earlier. In addition, no one is certain how much longer it can last until major repairs are necessary.
