Macomb, IL – Five returned Peace Corps Fellows will finish 11-month internships this summer and seek jobs.
The program offers returned Peace Corps volunteers a masters degree from WIU and a paid 11-month internship. Sarrah Hammon is developing a greenways and trails plan for Carrol County. Hammon also received a Presidential Volunteer Award because of her involvement.
She says the exra time on an internship gives volunteers a chance to become part of a community and know the people involved in projects. Hammon says a traditional internship is usually about three months.
Other fellows in the program are working in rural development, rural health planning, or other governmental organizations.
