Macomb, IL – Macomb aldermen have revised the contract with the city's legal counsel. The pact is now for one year instead of four.
The longer agreement with the firm March, McMillan & DeJoode was approved with other mayoral appointments on May 7. But on May 21, the council chose to shorten it.
Sixth Ward Alderman Tim Lobdell says it's important to keep all options open until a new city administrator is chosen. That position has been vacant since last month when Mayor Mick Wisslead chose not to reappoint Mike Hays. It could be this fall before the new city administrator is chosen.
March, McMillan & DeJoode will be paid $200,000. That's the same per-year payment it would have received under the four-year deal.
Alderman At-Large Dennis Moon cast the only "no" vote. He's satisfied with the firm's work and would like to lock in that price for four years.

*Aldermen approved all of the mayoral appointments with a single motion on May 7. They recast their votes on May 21 because each appointment had to be considered separately.
